Covid-19 learning support

Whether you have ten minutes or an hour to practise each day, you’ll find a wide variety of learning materials to help you make progress and improve your language skills. All the material on the LearnEnglish website is designed for self-study to support your learning. You will find a lot of ideas with on how you can make the most of your time by practising your English.

How to help your child learn English

The British Council LearnEnglish Kids team want to support parents at this challenging time. Many parents around the world are spending a lot of time at home with their young children. If you’re in this situation. Here are some ideas for short activities that your children can do by themselves and/or with limited guidance. Don’t worry if you don’t speak English – you can give your child the instructions in your own language, and at the end of the activity they can also tell you about it in your own language. The most important thing is that while they are doing the activity, they are using English.

Develop your skills through interactive video

The English Channel – an online platform for practicing English through videos on UK arts and entrepreneurship. The site presents you with interactive videos to help you learn English and build your career skills. Watch interesting videos, answer questions, and earn badges for your achievements.

Virtual arts collection

Since 1938 the British Council has been collecting works of art, craft and design to promote abroad the achievements of the very best British artists, craft practitioners and designers. The Collection has no permanent gallery and has been referred to as a ‘Museum Without Walls’. On these pages you can browse our collection, explore its history and find out more about borrowing and viewing our works.

Remote teaching – how to keep learners’ attention (longform)

Because of COVID-19, most professors and students suddenly find themselves forced to use technology as they teach and learn for the first time.
